It lasted for a couple of hours and then it was gone. Whatever, it's not that bad, I'll deal with it. I got out a couple of small pieces of wax out, but noticed some minor lingering pain. I don't do it often, and I definitely can't go very deep because it is painful to have anything put in there. So yesterday, (finally getting to the reason we're here!) I used a q-tip to clean my ear. I currently have a referral to an ENT because my hearing still sucks in that ear. It seemed to improve my hearing for a few days, but after that it was back to normal. He apologized and then used some tweezers to remove a good amount of wax. His solution? Oh let's put some warm water and peroxide in there! Immediately after he started putting the liquid in my ear, it was that overwhelming stabbing pain again. I've been to the doctor one time shortly after that to have him look at the ear, I told him about the peroxide and how much it hurt. Also, if I tried to use pressure to clear that ear, I would literally have a whistling come from that ear. Eventually after a few days, it did drain, but I noticed something I wasn't able to control the volume on that ear anymore, and it seemed to be stuck at a low/medium volume. After that I said screw it, I'll just let it drain on its own. I had an intense sharp stabbing pain in my ear and throat. I tried putting some peroxide in there to help clear it up, and that was by far one of the worst mistakes I've made. The next day I woke up and noticed that might right ear sounded really muffled. About 5 years ago I went to a pool party, and did a few canonballs. However, I know when I'm getting a cold or flu because I can feel a build up of pressure and I can't control the volume nearly as easy because of all the pressure built up.Īnyway, to the issue at hand. Sounds pretty cool right? Well it is for the most part, like when an ambulance drives by, I can just turn the volume on low and it's not nearly as loud. Basically by blowing or inhaling through my nose with a light amount of pressure and directing that pressure to my ears, I have 3 volume levels, loud, medium, and low. It works the same way as clearing your ears on a plane, but I don't have to pinch my nose and I hardly expend any pressure on my ears to do it. Now I know this is a little strange, but after I got the tube put in my ear and it healed up, I noticed that I was able to control the "volume" in my ears. I used to get ear infections in both ears as a kid, too. When I was about 10 I had surgery to have a tube put in my ear (don't really remember which one, but I think the left ear).
